History

In 1898, members of the Parish of All Saints Polish National Catholic Church banded together in the spirit of "neighbors helping neighbors", to form a Building and Loan Association named, "The Savings Bank of the People of All Saints".

By 1911 assets had climbed and the name was changed to Liberty Bank Building and Loan Association. The name was changed again in 1938 to Liberty Savings and Loan Association of Chicago. The bank again changed its name in 1973 to Liberty Savings.

In 1990 the Bank changed its name one last time to Liberty Bank for Savings. Today, with five locations, Liberty Bank is still dedicated to serving the people living and working in its communities. True to the nature of our Founders' intentions, we remain a community-oriented, financial institution providing a safe place for people to invest their savings and a local source for financing their dream of home ownership.

Chairman's Message

March 1st represented the start of a new fiscal year for Liberty Bank for Savings. Each New Year there are lots of resolutions and evaluations. When individuals are vowing to exercise more, or quite smoking, corporations are reviewing policies, products, service and financial stability. The one thing that Liberty ensures each and every day is our security and soundness as a financial institution. Our security and soundness is part of who we are every day, so much so that it is in our logo Trust & Integrity Since 1898.

Each year banks closed their doors or merged with other banks. The problems facing homeowners as a result of unsound lending practices by some banks and mortgage lenders in the past year have been all over the news. Liberty bank maintains strict and safe lending practices in keeping with our original mission to help our community grow and to help the people in our community enjoy the dream of home ownership. You only have to read Crains Chicago Business 2008 Book of Lists* to know the strength and stability of Liberty Bank for Savings. Liberty ranks as the 4th largest thrift in Chicagoland. We will not risk the security of our customers, in pursuit of earnings. In June 2007 the FDIC defined financial institutions with a basic capital of a minimum of 5% as well capitalized. Liberty Banks capitalization of 20% well exceeds this minimum requirement.

In a time when it may be difficult to find a trustworthy and secure financial institution, you dont have to travel far from your north side Chicago home to find one that puts customers security first Liberty Bank.

March 1st represented the start of a new fiscal year for Liberty Bank for Savings. Its at this time we look back over the past year and give ourselves an "annual check up". Weve had an amazing year and were looking pretty good! After all, we are celebrating our 110th anniversary this year, so we have years of experience in providing great products, service and security. But just like you, we need to look for areas in our organization that we can improve.
As we look back we review all the many improvements the bank made in the last year. We introduced Online Banking, and bill payment in September followed by eStatements in November, things our customers have been asking for. We introduced a FREE Checking Account "FREEdom Checking", and made a commitment to providing more training for our employees. In December we were able to offer our debit card customers the ability to change their Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) at any Liberty Bank ATM.

We are proud of the accomplishments weve made this year and hope that they will enable Liberty Bank to better serve our customers. We are proud to celebrate 110 years of safe and sound financial service to our community. We look forward to another healthy and productive year and we hope the same for you.
