History

In 1898, members of the Parish of All Saints Polish National Catholic Church banded together in the spirit of "neighbors helping neighbors", to form a Building and Loan Association named, "The Savings Bank of the People of All Saints".

By 1911 assets had climbed and the name was changed to Liberty Building and Loan Association. The name was changed again in 1938 to Liberty Savings and Loan Association of Chicago. The bank again changed its name in 1973 to Liberty Savings.

In 1990 the Bank changed its name one last time to Liberty Bank for Savings. Today, with five locations, Liberty Bank is still dedicated to serving the people living and working in its communities. True to the nature of our Founders' intentions, we remain a community-oriented, financial institution providing a safe place for people to invest their savings and a local source for financing their dream of home ownership.

Chairman's Message

Recently some big banks have started advertising themselves as "community banks." I don’t know about you, but I don’t consider New York or Canada my community. Many of these banks are owned and managed out of state or even out of the country. But I do understand why they want to be considered community banks. We here at Liberty Bank pride ourselves on being a community bank and differentiating ourselves from the "Big Guys." We are truly in business to serve our community and have been for 113 years.

We will not nickel and dime our customers with unnecessary fees. We actively seek our customers’ opinions by periodically surveying them. We train our employees to provide superior customer service. We are actively involved with organizations in the communities we serve.

We know you have a choice when it comes to where you trust your hard earned money. So, we do our best to focus on you, our customer. We make decisions based on what we believe our customers want, and since we are a mutual savings bank, we don’t have to answer to stockholders. Yours are the opinions, suggestions and criticisms we listen to.

You may have heard about some banks increasing their maintenance fees and eliminating free checking. Well, of course Liberty Bank has maintenance fees, but because we are such a solid and secure financial institution (see our Statement of Condition), we don’t need to increase our fees to stay afloat. Our goal is to provide you with the products and services you want at a fair price.

I have been associated with Liberty Bank, a true community bank, for more than 35 years. And I’m honored that you have trusted Liberty to provide you and your family with Safe, Solid and Secure banking. I am so pleased to be a part of your community.
