Loan Truong Nails Her Dream

The Logan Square neighborhood – including Liberty Bank – has a long history of encouraging small businesses started by immigrants to the United States.

For Loan Truong, a Liberty Bank business checking customer, opening Logan Square Nail Salon is the realization of a dream.

Before arriving in the United States and working for her sister’s Chicago salon for a decade, she’d been a nail technician in Vietnam.

Truong acknowledges that her first years in business were tough. She opened with no clients, no advertising, and stiff competition.

“I worked with my heart and did quality work,” she recalls.  That and reasonable pricing and word-of-mouth referrals have helped the salon take off.

All along, Liberty Bank has been by her side providing low fees, good customer service, and personalized help.

Good Health Starts at Home

One lasting effect of the pandemic has been people’s heightened concern about health.

Especially if someone in your house has allergies, asthma, or other respiratory illnesses, creating an indoor environment that supports health and comfort is crucial.

That includes minimizing toxins, controlling moisture, and maintaining good indoor air quality.

Evaluate your home

The Hayward Score, a free online tool, is one way to measure your home’s health and identify specific steps to improve it.

It asks you a series of questions and provides a score based on the answers.

The questions look at five areas:

1. Continuous fresh air
2. Proper sealing and insulation
3. Non-toxic materials and products
4. Cleanable surfaces
5. Healthy home habits

More than a score

Based on your answers, the site scores your home and creates customized reports and identifies the trouble spots and how to fix them. In addition, it gives you a to-do list of repairs, along with information about why repairs are necessary and their benefits, how challenging a project is, and whether it’s a DIY or professional job.

You also can find articles, videos and tips about maintaining home health.
