Libby™ eChecking FAQs

What is the Libby™ eChecking Account?

Libby™ eChecking is a non-interest bearing account that is to be used for personal, family, or household use. The account may be opened by 16 or 17 year olds if the ownership is held in joint tenancy with a parent or legal guardian. This paperless-statement account does not come with printed checks, so all transactions are done electronically via the Libby™ Visa® Debit card, Online Banking, Online Bill Pay, Mobile Banking, Mobile Deposit or Popmoney® person-to-person payments. There is no monthly fee or minimum balance to maintain the account and you only need a $25 deposit to get started.

What if I need to write a check?

You can send money electronically with your Libby™ eChecking Account via Online Bill Pay or Popmoney® person-to-person payments. However if you need a paper check, you can purchase a money order (normal fees apply) or obtain a bank check (for amounts of $500 or more).

What are the benefits of a Libby™ eChecking Account?

Will I get an actual debit card with this account?

Yes. While no checks are issued or ordered by Liberty Bank for this account, a Liberty Bank Libby™  Visa® debit card is issued to each accountholder on the account. In fact, you'll be able to select from 6 different elegant card designs, including those that can help you celebrate your neighborhood by featuring local landmarks.

Where do I find the location of the over 75,000 surcharge-free ATMs?

Just go to our home page, click on locate an ATM, and type in your address or ZIP code to find the surcharge-free ATMs nearest you.

What do I get with the Online Banking services?

Liberty Bank's Online Banking offers financial management tools including categorized spending reports, extended transaction history, and immediate access to current and previous paperless statements. As a result of these features, you have the tools to help you make intelligent decisions about your finances.

How do I sign up for the Online Banking services?

When you open your Libby™ eChecking Account, a representative will help you set up Online Banking. However, you can also sign up on your own.

What is your Online Bill Pay service?

Online Bill Pay lets you pay bills or set up recurring payments from your computer, and pay bills with your handheld device 365/24/7.

What is Popmoney®?

Popmoney® is our person-to-person payment service that lets you electronically exchange money with other Popmoney® accountholders – even those with accounts at other banks.

How do I sign up for the Popmoney®?

Sign up for Online Banking and Online Bill Pay, then complete the Popmoney® application within Online Bill Pay.

What is Mobile Deposit?

Mobile Deposit lets you deposit checks right through your Android or iPhone. It's fast, secure, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!

How do I sign up for the Mobile Deposit?

Mobile Deposit is a feature of our Mobile Banking service. When you open your Libby™ eChecking Account, a representative will help you set up Mobile Banking. However, you can also sign up on your own.

How do I get my $100 cash bonus?

The first $50 bonus will be deposited into your account after 2 recurring payroll or government automated deposits of $100 or more are credited to your account within 60 days of account opening.  You will receive an additional $50 bonus when 2 bill payments have been completed through the Liberty Bank Bill Payment service within 60 days of account opening. You should note, however, a fee of $50 will be charged if you close the account within 90 days of account opening.

Do I need to declare the $100 as income?

Yes, these bonuses constitute income and will be properly reported to you and the IRS.

What kind of fraud protection services come along with this account?

Everyone's worried about fraud and keeping accounts safe. We've got you covered with our standard personalized fraud protection services and the new identity theft resolution service we offer through Identity Theft 911®*.

If Identity Theft 911®, determines that you've been a victim of identity theft, one of their fraud specialists stands by your side and walks you through the process of notifying the necessary agencies, such as credit bureaus, creditors, and law enforcement, and helps you with filing the appropriate paperwork. If you become a victim, Identity Theft 911® can also activate credit and fraud monitoring, along with services and precautions unique to your situation that will ensure that your credit isn't unduly harmed and that your identity remains intact.

  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance* – For no additional charge, you receive $1,000 of Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance coverage.
  • Travel Assistance Services* – When you're traveling more than 100 miles from home and face a crisis, you can tap into medical and emergency assistance, such as medical evacuation and repatriation of remains.
How does Libby™ eChecking Visa® compare to a prepaid card?

The Libby™ Visa®  debit card outclasses prepaid cards. You get:

A bonus of $50 is to be received when 2 recurring payroll or government automated deposits of $100 or more are credited to the account within 60 days of account opening. An additional bonus of $50 is to be received when 2 bill payments have been completed through the Liberty Bank Bill Payment service within 60 days of account opening. Any bonus received constitutes income to you and will be properly reported to you and the IRS. A fee of $50 will be charged if you close the account within 90 days of account opening. Limit of one Libby™ eChecking Account per customer. Liberty Bank for Savings reserves the right to discontinue this product or offer at any time.
