Working at Liberty Bank a Homecoming for Branch Manager Tim Nuss
For Tim Nuss, becoming the branch manager at our Norwood Park branch was a bit of a homecoming. Given that he grew up on the northwest side, the bank’s neighborhood is near his childhood stomping grounds.
Small bank vibe: Nuss enjoys the community bank vibe and says, “I like that we’re small enough to know every customer by name, but big enough to provide for all their needs.”
Chicago native: Until very recently, Nuss lived his entire life on Chicago’s northwest side. He recently moved to a suburb, and though he appreciates one-story living, he misses some of the perks and ease of city life. “I loved that in the city I was within a two-block walk of anything that I needed,” he says.
Community service: Community service is an important part of Nuss’ job, and he represents Liberty Bank as a volunteer with both the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce and the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce. One highlight: Volunteering at the annual Throwback Music Festival in Gladstone Park. “It’s a nice time, where locals get together for two nights of great 80s and 90s cover songs,” he says.
Nuss also is involved and visible in the community on his own time. He’s volunteered at the Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation, a local pet rescue group, and at Rock the Badge. The event hits close to home because Nuss’ wife works in law enforcement, and Rock the Badge raises money to support the families of fallen first responders – Chicago firefighters and police officers.
Favorite hobby: Golf. “I like getting out for fresh air and some sunshine,” he comments.
Favorite local restaurants: Pasta D’Arte for Italian
